Instructions to make Chicken Tikka Biriyani:

  1. Marinate the chicken with all the ingredients listed in the marinade and keep it for 4-6 hours or overnight in fridge for better taste..
  2. Heat a thick bottom pan with oil enough to  shallow fry the marinated chicken and keep the remaining oil to add in the masala..
  3. For Masala- Heat oil in a biriyani pot.  Add ginger-garlic paste followed by onion, add the remaining chicken fried oil into it, add green chilly and little slat and saute till onion become translucent. Add tomatoes and saute well..
  4. Add all powders and saute well.Cook together until the oil is released from sides..
  5. Whip the yogurt and add. Add coriander and mint leaves and mix well.Check for salt and add if required..
  6. Add the shallow fried chicken and mix well. Add 1/2 cup hot water,cover and cook for sometime,switch off the flame and keep it aside..
  7. For Rice- Heat a pot with oil and temper the whole spices. Add 5 cups of water and bring them to boil. Add salt.Then add the soaked rice to the boiling water.cook until the rice is about 3/4 done.Strain if water remains..
  8. For biriyani dum- Put half of the rice on top of the chicken tikka masala,sprinkle some ried onions and chopped coriander leaves,drizzle 1 tbspn ghee and saffron water.Add the remaining rice over it and add fried onions,coriander leaves, ghee and saffron as before.Cover the pot well and tight, then  keep it in low flame for about 20 mins..
  9. Serve hot and enjoy them with raita and pickle!!!.
